Vine & Virtue Farm

Vine & Virtue Farm is a 9-acre family farm just west of Green Bay, Wisconsin. We work with nature, not against it, using permaculture principles to grow food that nourishes your family and respects the land.

Our Story

We never thought we'd be farmers.

Kenna grew up on a conventional dairy farm, but farming wasn’t part of her plan. She was content to leave 80 hour work weeks to her father and enjoy her vacations. Through reading and her own health struggles, she became passionate about whole foods and locally sourced ingredients, learning to cook with what was in season and in our region.

Shane has always loved food and cooking. After diving into books and videos about real food and the industrial food system, he discovered permaculture, a way to heal the land while producing healthy food. It clicked. We started a garden in our community garden plot and fell in love with growing our own food.

Over the past several years, we’ve learned, experimented, and grown alongside our garden and animals. The improvement in the taste of our food, the health of our bodies, and the time we spend together in the garden and with our community has brought us joy that we're excited to share with you.

Why Vine & Virtue

The name Vine & Virtue reflects both who we hope to remain connected to and how we hope to live.

As followers of Jesus, we desire to stay connected to the Vine to guide our work, our decisions, and the way we care for the land and the people it feeds. We also believe that how we farm matters just as much as what we grow.

Operating with virtue means striving to act with integrity, humility, and care in all things; from how we steward our soil, to how we treat our animals, to how we welcome our community. Our faith and these values shape every part of life on the farm, reflected in our Core Values: caring for people, caring for the earth, and giving our fair share.

Care for People

We are relational beings, made to live in community with one another.

We seek to make our farm a place where anyone can gather and feel at home, part of a family. This means approaching others with respect, curiosity, and a genuine desire to connect. Simply put, we aim to love others as Jesus first loved us.

Care for Earth

In the beginning, God created Man and Woman and gave them the charge to steward His creation. Humans have been both terrible and great stewards of the land throughout generations.

We believe that if we are to care for God’s creation well, we should observe how natural systems operate and work to recreate them in our backyard. We steward our little patch of land with respect, giving dignity to even the smallest creatures and producing food that is truly nourishing.

Fair Share

Part of stewarding our land well and caring for people means being generous with the gifts we’ve been given.

We support neighbors experiencing hardship by sharing the fruits of our labor. With your support, we’ve donated produce to Golden House and Freedom House, and we plan to continue these efforts. Learn how to donate Virtue Shares.
